CAREL - pCO Sistema Series

pCO sistema is the solution CAREL offers its customers for managing HVAC/R applications and systems. It consists of programmable controllers, user interfaces, gateways and communication interfaces, remote management systems to offer the OEMs working in HVAC/R a control system that is powerful yet flexible, can be easily interfaced to the more widely-used Building Management Systems, and can also be integrated into proprietary supervisory systems. pCO sistema guarantees reliability, while being easily modifiable, so as to differentiate between the air-conditioning and refrigeration unit in terms of both appearance and functions. Several sizes are available, based on the number and type of inputs/outputs, whether the Built-In terminal is fitted and the size of flash memory provided. The plastic case with DIN rail mounting guarantees high mechanical protection of the board and reduces the risk of electrostatic discharges, as well as housing an optional built-in user interface with 8x22 LCD and 6 buttons backlit by LEDs.

  • Interface – The pCO sistema terminals are available in panel or wall-mounted versions, with LED, alphanumeric and graphic LCD displays, allowing the messages to be shown in Chinese, Cyrillic, Arabic, Japanese.
  • Communication – It can interface to the more widely used communication standards, either directly or via gateways (Modbus®, BACnet™, Johnson Metasys®, DLL for Windows®, TCP/IP, SNMP, LonWorks®, Konnex®). It can also interface to intranets or the internet using a gateway that converts the CAREL protocol to TCP/IP Ethernet™ 10 MB/s. In addition pCO sistema controllers are able to receive and send SMS messages using a simple GSM modem. All the pCO sistema components can be connected without requiring additional cards to pLAN networks for exchanging data and information.
  • High technology – A 32-bit microprocessor guarantees high program running speed including control of faster transients. The parameters can be protected by various password levels. Thanks to the high capacity of the flash memory and the clock with battery the first value even for extended periods.
  • Applications – The programmability of the pCO series means that applications are possible for chillers, air-conditioners, shelters, roof top units, heat pumps, compressor racks, AHU.

CAREL - µChiller Series

μChiller is the solution for complete management of air/water and water/water chillers and heat pumps with on-off and/or DC compressors. With serial communication available across the entire family of controllers, the main unit actuators (electronic expansion valve, fan controller, compressor inverter, etc.) can be managed to optimise unit control and efficiency. The range of models also includes wireless connectivity with NFC (Near Field Communication) as standard, as well as Bluetooth on dedicated models, allowing interaction with mobile devices using the CAREL “APPLICA” app, making it easier to configure parameters and commission the unit in the field. The use of APPLICA represents a substantial novelty in the evolution of CAREL controllers. In fact with APPLICA the maintenance men on field can configure the unit in one single operation, receiving alerts in the event alarms and exchanging information with a remote service team. Moreover, when new features become available on the market, the app can be simply updated to guarantee service continuity, even on units that have already been installed. The APPLICA application is available on Google Play for devices with Android operating system.

CAREL - Energy Management Series

The CAREL solution for energy control and monitoring comprises a complete range of devices designed to significantly reduce energy wastage, bringing additional cost savings for end users. The solution includes a pLoads controller to manage electrical loads, and a three-phase energy meter with current transformers. This is ideal for monitoring electrical loads and deactivating these when exceeding set power consumption thresholds.

CAREL - Lighting Management Series

The CAREL solution for the control and monitoring of lights and non-food appliances comprises a complete range of devices designed to significantly reduce energy wastage, bringing additional cost savings for end users. The solution includes a pChrono controller to manage lights and non-food devices, i.e. generic loads such as air extractors, air curtains, vending machines, etc. Other devices supplied, such as wireless power points, make the system more flexible by increasing usability and expanding the range of applications.

CAREL - Waterloop Systems Solutions

Heos sistema is the continuous-modulation solution for water loop systems in commercial refrigeration applications. By using simple condensing units equipped with DC inverter compressors and electronic valves, maximum performance can be attained in terms of energy efficiency, optimum food preservation, easy installation and maintenance. Each unit can work independently of the others and in the best possible operating conditions, ensuring excellent stability and the highest possible evaporation temperature, making it by far the most efficient solution available on the market. Temperature control is managed using an advanced algorithm that adjusts cooling capacity in relation to demand, thus guaranteeing the highest quality of food preservation. The heat generated by the compressor is taken away by a water loop to a simple dry cooler outside of the building, or alternatively can be easily recovered for use by the air-conditioning systems. All of the components are designed to work in synergy, so as to achieve the best performance in all operating conditions. Energy savings, the main objective of the system, are further ensured by controlling the water loop, using dedicated hardware that manages the main components, such as a dry cooler, pumps and selector valves. Commissioning is simplified by the use of plug & play showcases, with a simple guided configuration procedure that saves time and effort, while complete control of the unit, combined with preventive diagnostics algorithms, helps avoid malfunctions and plan maintenance.

    Variable-speed compressors with DC motors allows considerable energy savings by guaranteeing optimum operation at part loads (which accounts for the bulk of operation). Permanent magnet motors feature less energy dissipation and increase efficiency. The wide range of modulation ensures the best operating conditions, guaranteeing improved stability and a reduction in ON/OFF cycles.
  • Electronic expansion valve with stepper motor
    The modulation provided by the electronic expansion valve brings significant savings across the entire refrigeration cycle, above all when managed in perfect sync with the variable-speed compressor, allowing continuous evaporation temperature control so as to ensure efficiency in all operating conditions.

  • Heat recovery between the different systems in the building
    The heat generated by condensing units with on-board compressors can always be recovered. The most flexible and practical solution involves the installation of a water-water heat pump, in which the cold source is the water used for the condensing stage on the showcases.

CAREL - Cold Room Solutions

Hecu Sistema is the CAREL solution for commercial refrigeration, designed for high energy efficiency condensing units that use either traditional HFC refrigerants or natural refrigerants such as CO2. The system’s distinctive features include the use of DC inverter technology and real-time synchronisation with the refrigeration units. Hecu sistema meets the requirements of the latest environmental sustainability standards relating to energy consumption (Eco-design directive) and the use of low GWP refrigerants (F-Gas regulation). CAREL - µRack series

With the µRack series, CAREL offers a series of compact and economical parametric controllers that are simple to use and install, for the complete control of small compressor racks, with the possibility to manage up to 5 relay outputs for controlling devices such as the compressors and fans. µRack uses a high efficiency LED display to show the values monitored, and icons representing the status of the devices and the operating modes. The electrical connections have quick couplings for the fast and safe connection of the instrument, and cable kits can be created when the controller is installed on the production line. Using the PWM output, the controller can also manage the condenser fan speed control. A series of optional modules widens the range of performance of the instrument, allowing rapid programming using the hardware key even when the instrument is off, and connection to the supervisory system for the complete monitoring of the unit. Compressor racks with floating condensing pressure control can be managed if the installation (showcase-cold room) is fitted with electronic valves.   • Powersplit series
    Powersplit is a range of products for multiplexed cabinets fitted with on-board compressors. These comprise a main board for controlling the actuators, with 4 or 6 relay outputs, and a user terminal with 3-digit LED display. They are designed to reduce wiring and the related power components; the power board has been designed so as to eliminate the wiring terminal block. Main features include: optical light sensor, power relay, and HACCP event monitoring thanks to the optional clock card. Powersplit can multiplexed manage defrosts (up to 6 units) across a LAN, connecting the power boards via a serial line. As well as defrosts, the local network also makes it possible to centralise controls and alarms.
  • ir33 series
    ir33 represents the maximum that CAREL technology has to offer in the field of applications for refrigeration. The four base versions (12Vac, 12/24Vac/dc, 230Vac and 115/230Vac) give rise to a vast range of products in different configurations. One particularly innovative version is the 115/230Vac model with built-in switching power supply, 4 relays and clock, all in the same size as the current ir32 range. For manufacturers CAREL offers the 230Vac version: more compact than the other versions, with a more essential configuration and consequently more competitive in terms of price. The 12Vac and 12/24Vac/dc models represent the evolution of the ir32 series and are designed, due to their similarity, to be their natural replacement. The operating logic follows the same lines, and the appearance reflects a number of the same characteristics, however the functions have been enhanced: the changeover from the previous range to the new version is thus simple and beneficial. Most of the models are fitted with a 16A (3/4 Hp) relay for controlling the compressor.
  • Powercompact series
    Powercompact is a range of products that is particularly suitable for cabinets in the catering sector and for refrigerated showcases in pastry and ice-cream shops. The devices are fitted with a 3-digit LED display and eight buttons, giving users the possibility to access to the main functions of the connected refrigeration unit. The controllers are available in standard and small sizes, occupying a depth of just 40 mm on the unit, making them the ideal solution for applications where limited space is available to house the controller. Models are available with 2 to 5 relays, including a 2 HP relay for the compressor, and with transformer or extended range switching power supply (115/230 Vac).
